Atelier d’Art 49 takes its name from the department of ‘Maine et Loire 49’ located in the north-west of France.

Our local region of Haute Anjou had a great influence on French and European history and it is here where you will find many old monuments dating back to the middle ages and even the Stone Age, to remind us of earlier centuries.

Its countryside under vast skies and beautiful sunsets, its friendly and hospitable people make it a must for those who love peace and nature.

Located in the centre of this pleasant environment is the studio, Atelier d’Art 49, established by Linda and Jacob.

Linda who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and graduated in painting, and Jacob, a self-taught artist, both found their inspiration here; Linda with her lyrical and colourful abstract paintings, portraits and charcoal drawings, Jacob with his landscapes and skies.

More and more artists, amateur and professional, are drawn from miles around to their warm and cozy studio, to join with the weekly drawing and painting programmes on offer.

These range from still life and landscape courses to the life drawing with a professional nude model, with expert tuition always on hand from Linda.

One of the highlights of the year is the increasingly popular residential summer course run by Linda with Lascaux Resonance Gouache. In addition to the varied painting styles explored in the course, harmony and meditation plays an important role.

For more information on these courses, please refer to the section "drawing and painting courses"and "summercourses" on the main menu.
